EASTHAM - Paul-John Daley, a proud native Cape Codder, died on May 9th doing one of his favorite things -- freshwater fishing. Paul was born April 7th, 1963, raised in Truro MA by Paul and Joye Daley. After graduating Nauset High School in 1981, he joined the US Navy and served until 1984, when he then returned to the Cape. Paul reconnected with Janet Hamilton shortly after and they married May 30, 1987. Paul and Janet raised two amazing children, Alana Joye and John Robert in Eastham MA.
Paul worked in the concrete form business, working for various companies for over thirty years -- most recently for All Cape Foundations. Paul started his own landscaping business fifteen years ago, Boat MeadowYard Care. He truly enjoyed establishing relationships with his customers; offering advice, humor, and charm. He spoke to everyone he met and was always known for his 'hot ticket' personality.
Paul and Janet were enjoying their empty nest by taking day trips together, and finally a vacation to Florida this past March to celebrate their 30th anniversary.
Although Paul was not expressive about feelings, he was most proud of his children, and one of his cherished moments was giving Alana away at her wedding. Paul shared his love of fishing with John on many ponds and in Cape Cod Bay and was looking forward to John and Sydney's wedding
July 1st.
Paul is survived by his wife Janet, daughter Alana (Daley) Collins and her husband Jared Collins, son John Daley and his fiancée Sydney Painter, mother Joye Daley, sisters Kathleen and Shannan Daley, in-laws Dan and Meredith Hamilton, sisters in law Kathy Prunty and Julie Allen Hamilton and their families. Paul is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Paul will also be sadly missed by his copilot boxer Mirra, who happily went for truck rides anytime Paul asked. Eastham is a little quieter these days, without Paul blasting his love for music everywhere he went.
On Tuesday May 16th, there will be calling hours from 10-12pm at Nickerson Funeral Home in Orleans MA, followed by a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in Eastham MA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Eastham Police Department Police Union at 2550 State Highway Eastham MA 02642, or the Eastham Fire Department at 2520 State Highway Eastham MA 02642.
