Dorothy "Dot" O. Rose (Smith)


Dot Rose, age 84, passed away March 31, 2015 after a lengthy illness.

A native Cape Codder, Dot was born in Wellfleet on March 8, 1931, to Grace E. and Woodbury W. Smith.

She is survived by her four children, Ruth-Ann Kulesza of Bonita Springs, FL, Sandra Francis of Eastham, Steve Rose of Wellfleet, and Greg Rose of Orleans, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Ruth Jordan of Truro and a brother, Clyde Smith...

Dot Rose, age 84, passed away March 31, 2015 after a lengthy illness.

A native Cape Codder, Dot was born in Wellfleet on March 8, 1931, to Grace E. and Woodbury W. Smith.

She is survived by her four children, Ruth-Ann Kulesza of Bonita Springs, FL, Sandra Francis of Eastham, Steve Rose of Wellfleet, and Greg Rose of Orleans, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Ruth Jordan of Truro and a brother, Clyde Smith of Orlando, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Gilbert Rose, her two brothers Clayton Smith and Clarence Smith, and one great-grandson Miles Francis.

Dot left school at seventeen to marry the love of her life, Gilbert Rose, and settled in Wellfleet to raise her family. Later, she and Gilbert built a new house in Eastham and lived in Eastham until Gilbert passed away. Then Dot moved to Rock Harbor Village in Orleans, where she made several friends. Dot got her GED and took some college courses at Cape Cod Community College. She went on to work cleaning houses. She met and made many new friends while pursuing this career.

Dot loved playing bingo, going to Dunkin Donuts and going to breakfast at the Fairway Restaurant in Eastham.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 10 at 5 p.m. at the Wellfleet Methodist Church.
